Every year, we send an annual holiday letter.  Here is the letter for 2006.

The Wilson Family in 2006
Dear Family and Friends, I hope this Holiday letter finds you all well.  I always find it amazing that a year can go by so quickly.  This makes our 15th annual letter to you.  It’s always fun to recap the highlights of our year to share. We had a great year in 2006.  The weather was certainly nice this year…no hurricanes!  Work is great for both Tony and me, we are still keeping busy with lots of different projects.  I’m still active on church council; and in 2006 I served as Secretary.  I won’t be returning to council in 2007, but will remain active in church on other projects. At work I am still in the Data Warehousing field, participating in a variety of different projects and keeping my skills as current as possible in an ever-changing and progressive environment.  Our big project this year was replacing the central reservation system for Disney World.  This was finished successfully in October and was a big accomplishment for our department.  I think that in 2007 I’ll be working on a call center project, but who knows, things change rapidly.  Tony continues in his work with KUA and has been very busy all year preparing for their own major system upgrade…which has meant lots of overtime for him.

In April I worked on the opening event for Disney’s newest thrill ride attraction called ‘Expedition Everest.’  I hosted a TV reporter from Chattanooga who was filming a travel segment for his local market.  My sister Carolyn was at Animal Kingdom the day we were filming and he interviewed Amy, Natalie, and two other friends from Seattle, Lauren and Alex.  We made them local celebrities in Chattanooga.  We had a fun spending time with them in the parks.

Amy finished 8th grade in May.  They had a lovely graduation ceremony and luncheon that we enjoyed.  The graduates each gave a short presentation to the Trinity congregation and for some it became quite emotional.  Mom and Dad were able to attend and it was great to share the occasion with them.

In August Amy started 9th grade at Osceola High School taking honors English and honors Geography, as well as two electives.  OHS has a ‘4 by 4’ system.  This means she takes 4 classes each semester, and next semester will have honors Geometry and honors Physical Science as well as two drama classes (set design and improvisation).

Also Amy competed on the OHS swim team this year, and did pretty well for someone who has never been on a swim team before.  Her time in the 100 meter breaststroke was good enough to make the district finals, but she did not place there.  Practices were at 6 a.m. most every day and some days in the afternoons, but it was still lots of fun.  She’s looking forward to flag football next semester, and I’m hoping she’ll want to swim again in her sophomore year. October was Amy’s confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church.  The service was lovely, and again we were glad that my parents could attend and share the occasion.

We took our usual trip to Bethany Beach again this year.  We drove up in the car, making the trip in one day, and Amy flew a week earlier to Washington DC and went down with her uncle Dan and cousin Natalie.  The girls always have a great time together at the beach.

Much to my annoyance, my family could not forget that I’m turning 50 in April 2007 and decided that we should celebrate it early.  At least they gave me a crown and a wand, and made me a diva for the day.  The best part was a chocolate champagne bottle.  Yum.  It survived the trip home to Florida, and was nibbled on for quite a while. After Bethany Beach we spent a day and night in Washington, DC before driving home.  Carolyn arranged for a staff-led tour of the Capitol building for us, which was really fun, and we also got to go to the top of the Washington Monument which I have not done since I was a child.  We went shopping for knock-off purses in Georgetown which was a big hit with Natalie and Amy.

We’re planning a special trip to the British Virgin Islands for 2007.  We will be celebrating our 25th, my 50th, and Amy’s 15th.  So it will be a special year.  If you’re planning to be in Florida please give us a call…or email us (not posted on the web site).

Love to you all,

Pat, Tony, and Amy
